About Our Community

Our Mission

Using our neighborhood as the canvas, our vision is to create a holistically healthy community where all people, creatures, insects, and plants have the necessary conditions to thrive. We strive to empower and support our neighbors to make intentional choices about their lifestyles; enhancing well-being and reducing our environmental impact. With the ultimate goal of living in harmony with the land we have chosen to inhabit.

What is Mutual Aid?

Woodmont Permaculture follows the organizational principle of mutual aid: a volunteer led, reciprocal approach to sharing resources for the good of the whole community. What does this look like in practice? When one has extra, they share. When one is in need, they receive. No money changes hands - the currency is generosity and gratitude.

Our Guiding Principles

Here are a few of the principles that guide our work:

  • Organic > chemical
  • Native > non-native
  • Sharing > wasting
  • Community care > toxic individualism
  • Intentional consumption > mindless consumption
  • Wild > tame
  • Natural habitats > perfectly manicured lawns
